Barbara Thomas Hines, age 78, of Hayes, peacefully passed away at home with family by her side on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Barbara was born on January 20, 1947 to the late James Edward and Muriel Christine Shackelford Thomas. Barbara played basketball in high school, softball throughout her twenties, and enjoyed bowling with her husband and friends. She enjoyed gardening during the summer and putting up the big Christmas wreath for the holidays. She was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan and loved to be by her husband while he drag raced. Barbara was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church and a 51-year member of the Eastern Star Pocahontas Chapter No. 103 OES, Williamsburg, Va. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Al” Rinda Hines. She is survived by her daughter, Christina Green (Michael); step-daughter, Andrea Fuentes (Hector); three grandchildren, Alexis Pierce (Anthony), Justin Fuentes, and Alyssa Fuentes; three great-grandchildren, Kate Ruiz, Clay Pierce, and Carter Pierce. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Thomas Hines (Donna), and nephews, Kevin Hines and Chris Thomas (Lisa). The family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 6-7:30 p.m. The funeral service, conducted by Pastor Jared Berry, Pastor Mike Lawhorn and Pastor Bill West will be held at Union Baptist Church on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in Gloucester Point Cemetery. Flowers are always welcome and in memory of Barbara, contributions may be made to Abingdon Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 9, Bena, Va. 23018.
