BARBARA LEWANDOWSKI

Barbara Lewandowski, age 81, of Mathews, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Heron Cove 2 in Gloucester, Virginia, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Lewandowski. She was a resident of Mathews for over 33 years. Barbara was born in Detroit, Michigan. Barbara was an avid quilter and member of several local quilting guilds. She enjoyed quilting tours overseas to England, Ireland, France, and Russia. Barbara was also a very talented painter in both oil and watercolors. She was an avid cat lover and was adopted by a local cat named Smokey who was unknowingly co-owned by several other residents in Mathews. She later rescued a special kitten named Punkin who became her sidekick for nearly 20 years. Barbara was an incredible cook, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and friend to many!

Barbara was known to all for her sparkling personality, good mood, big smile, laugh, and her great sense of humor.

Barbara is survived by her children, Cliff and David Lew-andowski: her two grandchildren, Bryce Lewandowski and Blake Pepper; her great-grandchild, Danica; as well as her brothers, Mike, Brian, and John Hlavaty.

Our family would like to send a special thanks to the staff members at Heron Cove 2 for the loving and attentive care they provided for our mother over the years.

No funeral services are scheduled. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers or your local animal shelter.
