The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Monday night to appoint former Gloucester Deputy County Administrator George Bains as its Interim County Administrator, effective April 15, following its budget public hearing, held in the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium. County Administrator Carol Steele’s contract was terminated just two weeks before, effective April 1. In congruence of this appointment, the county has now entered into a contract with The Berkley Group, a government consulting agency, which Bains has worked for since retiring from the county last summer. Bains was appointed to the Deputy County Administrator position in March 2024 after previously serving as the county’s Chief Information Technology Officer.
