AVFR to hold open house Saturday

Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc., will hold an open house on Saturday in conjunction with the Guinea Jubilee.

Station 2 in Bena will be the site of the open house from immediately after the Guinea Jubilee parade until 4:30 p.m. “If you are interested in joining a volunteer fire and rescue organization, this as a perfect chance to see what the expectations are and what you want to get from the experience,” according to a posting on Facebook from the AVFR.

Equipment will be on display and applications will be available for those interested in becoming volunteers. There is also an administrative membership category for those who want to contribute their time in a non-EMS or firefighting capacity. 

As always, the AVFR booth on the Guinea Jubilee grounds will be open during the entire event to allow the public to meet members and ask questions, get fire safety information, and view hundreds of pictures of past events. ...
