Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue’s annual fund drive is underway. Money from this collection goes to the financial needs of the organization such as fuel, insurance, yearly audits, phone, internet and fundraising, supplementing the annual contribution received from the county.

Letters have been sent to area residents, and donations are also being accepted on the AVFR’s website.

This year’s goal is $100,000. Those wishing to donate can do so by mailing checks to Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue P.O. Box 9 Bena, Va. 23018 or make their donation online at www.AVFR.com.

“Abingdon Fire and Rescue appreciates all donations given to the organization. It helps us continue serving Gloucester County,” said training captain Drew Luellen.
