Author to give talk Saturday at Arts on Main

Arts on Main’s current artist in residence, author Dan Berne will give a talk from 4-5 p.m. Saturday at the gallery on Main Street in Gloucester.

Berne is working on his current manuscript while in Gloucester Oct. 2-16 and will read both from his work in progress and from his debut novel, “The Gods of Second Chances.” He will talk about how he approaches a story’s arc and points of tension, as well as the challenges of writing a female versus a male protagonist.

Named an award winner by the Pacific Northwest Writers Association, Berne published “The Gods of Second Chances” in 2016. In addition to writing for publication in literary magazines, he writes non-fiction. He is the owner of a market strategy consultancy and is currently writing a book on market transformation.
