Author Nan Harvey to address Woman’s Club of White Stone

The Woman’s Club of White Stone will welcome local author Nan Harvey as guest speaker at its Wednesday, Nov. 2, meeting in the group’s White Stone clubhouse. The club’s business meeting starts at 10 and the guest speaker will address the group later in the morning.

Harvey, who lives in North- umberland, will read from her book, “A History Not Past,” which is a historical fiction tale about her Scottish ancestor, Robert Lindsay. The founding member of the Lindsay clan in the colony, he and his guardian, the Rev. David Lindsay, the second rector at Wicomico Parish Church, emigrated from Fife, Scotland, to the Northern Neck in the mid-1600s. Using land and court records as well as historical accounts from Virginia and Scotland, Harvey was able to recreate the common man’s life, weaving in her own experiences of sailing on the Chesapeake Bay.

Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited. Contact Amy Haines at 804-690-8763 for more information or to reserve a seat.
