AUDREY MAY CASEY GREGG

Audrey May Casey Gregg was born on Monday, Sept. 23, 1929. She peacefully left this earth on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021. Audrey was a resident of Mathews County, Virginia, and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. As a young girl, Audrey lived in Annapolis, Maryland, but would spend her summers in Mathews with her aunt, May Foster, on her farm on Ridge Road. She graduated from Annapolis High School at the age of 16 and served as the court reporter for Anne Arundel County in Annapolis for many years. Audrey married her beloved Albert (Geregitano) Gregg on Oct. 9, 1959. In December of 1970, they moved from Annapolis to Mathews County. It was there, in their farmhouse on the East River in Tick Neck, that they planted their roots and raised their sons. Audrey’s sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have been blessed to make their homes on this same homestead. She was an amazing cook and together with her family enjoyed nothing more than to join together every Sunday for large meals. Audrey was witty with a wonderful sense of humor and had a generous soul, with a positive attitude that was immediately noticed by anyone who met her.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her son, Anthony; her parents, Franklin Casey of Annapolis, and Ruth Shackelford Casey of Mathews, and sisters, Mary Jean and Alma.

She is survived by her son, Michael Gregg (Joanne); Carole Gregg; grandchildren, Daniel Gregg (Heather), James Gregg (Amanda), and Amy Gregg (Will); great-grandchildren, Albert Gregg, Lenox Gregg, Audrey Catherine “Cate” Christopher, Cara Christopher, Thomas, Nicole, and Lauren.

A graveside service was held on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery, 320 Williams Wharf Road, Mathews. Due to her great love of animals, donations may be made to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, Va. 23061.

Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, assisted the family.
