Open auditions and a chorus workshop for the Judy Ward musical “Crickets on a Hill” will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Central United Methodist Church, 121 Church Street, Mathews.

A large cast of singers and non-singers is needed for this story about the Battle of Cricket Hill, which took place in current-day Mathews (then a part of Gloucester) in July of 1776.

Those who wish to audition for a major role are asked to bring a prepared piece to sing with sheet music or CD. Others may simply show up and participate in the group chorus workshop.

“Everyone is welcome,” said director Anita Minuth.
