For the fourth year, Arts on Main is hosting its popular youth summer art camps and workshops. In these weeklong sessions, Gloucester’s young artists create art while learning about new art techniques, color theory, world art traditions, and art history.
The first camp sessions ran from June 16-20 for preschoolers and middle school artists, while the second preschool camp and the first of two elementary school camps have been meeting this week, said a press release.
The final week of camp sessions will run from Aug. 4-8, with a second elementary school camp for ages 6-10 in the mornings and a workshop for high school artists ages 15-18 in the afternoons. Currently, there is a waitlist for the elementary school aged camp, but there are still some seats available for high school artists.
“We love hosting these popular camps each year,” said Arts on Main’s Executive Director Dr. Kathryn Swanson. “It is a delight to watch the joy and enthusiasm of these young artists and to hear from their parents that they continue to be avid artists and creators weeks and even months after camp.”
To see what this week’s campers have created, visit Arts on Main from noon-5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
