Arts on Main honors its founders

Arts on Main celebrated its accomplishments at its annual membership meeting on July 20. Now in in its sixth year, the organization honored its founders and elected two new board members.

Executive director Betsy Henderson catalogued a “year of firsts” for Arts on Main: Hosting the first members’ juried exhibition; showing the first “Movie on Main,” and hosting the first singer/songwriter concert. The organization also hired its first paid staff, held its first RiverJam fundraiser, and played an integral part in the first Gloucester Arts Festival and Plein Air Week.

The group has also continued to fulfill its core mission, providing the community with access to the arts through exhibits and events, classes and workshops. This year, Arts on Main is expanding its signature children’s program, offering arts enrichment at no cost to its fifth local elementary school. The after school arts program has served over 1,200 children since its inception.
