Arts on Main expanding its Gloucester gallery

Arts On Main is expanding its gallery located at 6850-B Main Street in Gloucester.

Phase I of the expansion has begun, said Lynne Manning, board chair and co-manager of the expansion with Bill Andersen.

She said North River Construction of Gloucester is building out offices and storage rooms for the main gallery, while the expanded gallery on Main Street will receive new paint, electrical and furred-out walls.

A wall separating Arts on Main’s two galleries has been opened, and new concrete steps will be poured soon, Manning said. An interiors improvement grant from the Main Street Preservation Trust is supporting the work, for which completion is expected this summer, she said.

The gallery will remain open from noon-5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday while construction is underway.
