Mathews bands excel at assessments Over the last several weeks, the Thomas Hunter Seahawk Intermediate Band, the Mathews High School String Orchestra, and the Mathews Blue Devil Band have all performed at various state and regional assessments, according to Mathews High School Band and Orchestra Director Mark Givens. All three groups received Excellent Ratings, Givens said, with the Blue Devil Band and Mathews String Orchestra receiving Superior Sight Reading ratings. The Seahawk Band and Blue Devil bands will be continuing their preparations as they work towards their Spring competitions.
