Arts at Abingdon series begins Oct. 6

Five concerts are planned in the 2022-23 Arts at Abingdon series, held annually at Abingdon Episcopal Church, White Marsh.

Concerts are free and open to the public. Except in one case this year, no reservations are required, according to artistic director Alisa Bohun.

The series opens at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 with TAKE3, a threesome on violin, piano and cello, playing everything from Bach and Beethoven to the Beatles.

The Tallis Scholars will be featured at 4 p.m. on Dec. 4 (reservations required). Founded and directed by Peter Phillips, The Tallis Scholars are considered leading representatives of Renaissance sacred music. An album in 1987 won Gramophone magazine’s Record of the Year award.

Violinist Risa Hokamura, Silver Medalist at the 2018 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, will perform at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12. Hokamura is a scholarship student at the Manhattan School of Music.
