Artists to paint canoes at Daffodil Festival

An interactive artist participation activity titled “CANOE” will be held at Tabb House on Main Street during the Gloucester Daffodil Festival this weekend.

During the activity, artists Thomas Dixon, Asa Jackson, Dathan Kane, ALXMCHL, and Mahari Chabwera will paint canoes in the styles of noted Virginia artist Cy Twombly’s life work.

The participating artists are affiliated with the 670 Gallery in Hampton through the Contemporary Arts Network of Hampton and the Chouinard Foundation of Los Angeles.

Dixon said in a press release that in his previous work with the Nicholas Wilder Gallery in Los Angeles, he had met Cy Twombly and had hung Twombly’s first gallery show on the West Coast.

The public is invited to drop by and watch the artists at work. ...
