Community painters are invited to register for this year’s Paint Main, a plein air painting contest to be held on Gloucester Main Street during the upcoming Gloucester Arts Festival.

Paint Main will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 1. Plein Air painters who have been invited to participate in this year’s Gloucester Arts Festival will be working along Main Street in a fun, competitive setting, judged by Gloucester’s own Leslie Belvin, said a press release. Community painters will paint in the same setting but compete for different prizes than the invited artists.

Judging for the side-by-side contests will be held on the Tabb House Lawn beginning at 12:30 p.m. After prizes are awarded to both groups, the paintings will be available for purchase fresh off the easel until 2 p.m.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the event free of charge as spectators, said the release.

The entry fee for community painters is $10.
