Lauren Schoenthal of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was appointed as an art teacher at Gloucester High School by the Gloucester School Board in personnel actions taken during its Feb. 13 meeting. The appointment was effective Jan. 22.
Appointed to support services positions were Shyla Berger, Carol Hankins and Kathy Kanady, all of Gloucester. The appointments were effective Feb. 14.
Appointed to coaching positions for the 2017-2018 school year at GHS were John Glockner, head wrestling coach; Dorsey Hooker, assistant varsity baseball coach; Stanley Hundley, assistant spring track coach; Carlos Morales, boys’ tennis coach; Robette Thompson, girls’ tennis coach and John Perrin, head spring track coach.
Also, Sharon Bantel was appointed as the assistant softball coach at Page Middle School.
The board accepted resignations from Page band teacher Kristen Friend, effective Jan. 30; and support services employees Raymond Billups Jr., effective Jan. 16 and Lisa Jenkins, effective Feb. 16.
Resignations were also accepted from Page assistant softball coach Erica Goodman, effective Jan. 25, and GHS girls’ volleyball coach Jette Wade, effective Jan. 25.
The board approved retirement for GHS Spanish teacher Pamela Anderson, GHS Spanish and French teacher Donna Freeman, Petsworth Elementary teacher Leonard Higgins and Peasley Middle School teacher Walter Roy, all effective July 1. Retirement was also approved for Bethel Elementary physical education teacher Michael Miller, effective April 1.
Retirement was additionally approved for support services employees Shirley Hogge, Lynn Holt and Virginia Medeiros, all effective July 1.
