ARRL Field Day

Once again, members of the Middle Peninsula Amateur Radio Club will be setting up at Abingdon Park in Hayes to take part in the American Radio Relay League’s annual Field Day. From about noon Saturday through Sunday afternoon, club members will seek to contact as many stations in the U.S. and Canada as they can while operating under simulated emergency conditions such as those one would encounter in a natural disaster. The event is also being held to acquaint the public with the capabilities of amateur radio in these crisis conditions. Anyone interested in ham radio is welcome to visit. Here, club members Will Grant and Robert Jones, from left, are shown taking part in a previous year’s event. Visit or the club’s Facebook page for more information on club activities.
