ARNOLD CARROLL RIPLEY

Arnold Carroll Ripley, 99, of Susan, Virginia, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, at his home. He was a member of Saint Paul Comfort Church where he was active all his life, the American Legion in Mathews, and was a World War II Navy veteran. Arnold was a retired Menhaden Captain and during his time as a captain, he caught one billion fish. He always was one of the first to contribute to those in need in Mathews anonymously.

He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen Miles Ripley.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Ripley (Ray); two sons, Arnold Ripley Jr. (Cheryl) and Wesley Ripley (Elizabeth), and a granddaughter, Sidney Ripley.

The family received friends on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. at Saint Paul Comfort Church followed immediately by a Celebration of Life service at 2 o’clock. Entombment followed the service in Friendship Cemetery, Susan. There was a reception in the church social hall following the entombment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hands Across Mathews at www.handsacrossmathews.org, or to the Mathews Community Foundation at www.mathewscf.org. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, assisted the Ripley family.
