Are you and your pets prepared for an emergency?

September is National Disaster Preparedness Month. Are you and your pets ready in case of an emergency?

Emergencies come in many forms such as fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes and floods. It only takes a short time to create an emergency plan for yourself and your pets, and it can prove to be lifesaving. The following are some basic tips that will ensure you and your pets are prepared in the face of an emergency.

Having your pets microchipped is the easiest and surest way to ensure reunification if separated. Be sure to keep your phone number and address up to date with the microchip company and provide easy-to-read tags on your pet’s collar. Since many pets look alike, this will help to eliminate mistaken identity and confusion.
