Arden Sadler Washburn, age 80, died peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones in Newport News, Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018.

She was a beacon of strength and positivity for all those who had the privilege to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and compassion. Arden was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Hayes.

She was preceded in death by husband, William H. Washburn; son, Louis E. Clements; great-grandchild, Willow M. Clements; brother, Aubrey E. Sadler II, and her parents, Aubrey E. and Freda Sadler.

She is survived by her son, Mark F. Clements; grandchildren, Savannah E. Clements (Chris Dowhan) and Louis E. Clements II; great- grandchild, Summer Clements, and a brother, Allan E. Sadler (Barbara).

A celebration of life conducted by the Rev. Carol Bookwalter was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 2101 Mark Pine Road, Hayes, Va. 23072. The family encourages and invites all who knew her to attend and celebrate her life. They received friends in the fellowship hall following the service. Inurnment will be private.
