ARCHIE L. SPRAGUE

Archie L. Sprague died quietly on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, in Stuart, Virginia.

He was born in Hornell, N.Y., on November 20, 1948. He was the son of Archie W. Sprague and Dorothy V. Sprague of Aiken, S.C.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia; two sons, Robert A. and Andrew L., both of Newport News; two sisters, Judy Sprague and Donna Bobier, both of New York; a brother, Ronald Sprague of South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

He attended Haverling High School in Bath, N.Y. He received his B.S. degree from State University of New York at Geneseo and his MBA and PhD (ABD) from Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y. He taught high school math in Cleveland, Ohio, Gloucester, Va., and York Academy in Shacklefords, Va. He was an adjunct professor at Christopher Newport University in Newport News and a professor of marketing at Hampton University. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Gloucester.

He loved his family, friends, and animals. He had his single-engine pilot’s license and enjoyed scuba diving, fireworks, and Elvis.

He will be missed by his family and many friends. We would like to thank the caring and patient staff at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection who made Archie’s life more pleasant and safer for so long.
