A funeral for Archie Forrest Carter, 75, of Cobbs Creek, was held at noon on Monday in Newington Baptist Church, Gloucester, Virginia. He died Oct. 13, 2016.
He was born in Gloucester, and was a member of Union Zion Baptist Church, Gloucester. He graduated in 1961 from T.C. Walker High School and was employed by M&G Transportation, Gloucester, for approximately 30 years. He then worked for Wanchese Fish Company in Hampton.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Griffin; stepfather, Collins Griffin, and brothers, Henry and Nelson Griffin.
Survivors include his wife, Faith Carter; children, Theresa Farmer, Trudi Karpel, Tina Kelly, Tyrone White, and Archie Carter; one sister, Belinda Cornelius; two brothers, Collins and Malcolm Griffin; 11 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Burial was in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Susan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Antioch Men’s Ministry, Susan, Virginia 23163.
Knight Funeral Home, Mathews, was in charge.
