Approximately $18,000 raised in Amos West Spot Tourney

Approximately $18,000 has been donated to date for this year’s third annual Amos G. West Memorial Spot Fishing Tournament, which was held on Sept. 19.

Stan Simmerman took first place in the tournament, with David and Lynn Onesty placing second. Travis Haurand won for the biggest spot.

The contest, which was held at Hayes, was sponsored by Deltaville Market, Lockwood’s Carpets, York River Flooring, along with the support of many other businesses and individuals.

This past June, the scholarship committee provided seven 2020 Gloucester High School seniors with a $1,000 scholarship made payable to the college/tech school of the candidates’ choice. Recipients were Farren Winter (Shenandoah University), Margaret Teagle (James Madison University), Hailey Williams (James Madison University), Charles McKeller (Virginia Tech), Mary Waclo (Rappahannock Community College), Carson Brooks (Mary Baldwin University) and Laura Tobin (Meredith College).
