Applications sought for outfall ditch program

Mathews County is accepting applications from its residents to have outfall ditches placed on a priority list to be cleaned.

During winter months, crews will work to clear the drainage areas of saplings, bushes and other accumulated debris. Private and public road ditches are not included in the county’s ditch program.

An application must be completed for outfall drainage ditches to be placed on the list. All of the property owners that abut the ditch must sign the application and release forms to enable the work crews to access their properties.

Applications for the Outfall Drainage Ditch Maintenance Program can be obtained from the Mathews County website at www.co.mathews.va.us, or by visiting the Department of Planning and Zoning at 50 Brickbat Road, Suite 208 or calling 725-4034 during normal business hours.

All applications must be turned in no later than Oct. 31. ...
