The Mathews County School Board will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the Mathews High School media center to receive the names of applicants for the school board vacancy created by the resignation of Jeanice Sadler, who announced at the board’s October meeting that she is moving out of the county.

The remaining school board members are expected to make an interim appointment at their Dec. 21 regular monthly meeting. That appointment will be for one year; a special election will be held in November 2022 for the remainder of Sadler’s term, which expires at the end of 2023.

Interested applicants residing in Mathews County are invited to complete a brief application available in the Mathews School Board Office, P.O. Box 369, 63 Church Street, Mathews, Va. 23109 or via the division website www.mathews.k12.va.us. Details of the process are listed on the application form. Applications must be received no later than 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19.
