Applications being accepted for business interior grants

The Main Street Preservation Trust is accepting applications for the second year of its interior grant program for businesses along Main Street in Gloucester. Aug. 29 is the deadline to apply.
Executive director Jenny Crittenden said that the grant program offers a 50 percent match for businesses in the target area between the historic court circle and near the Routes 17/14 intersection. MSPT is making available a total of $40,000 for interior improvements, she said, but the program is not intended to assist with new construction.
There are two categories funding: tenant improvements and merchandising assistance. The cap on the match for the tenant improvements is $10,000 for a business, while the cap on the merchandising assistance category is $2,500. Businesses that have received funds through the interior grant program in the past can apply for additional funds this year, Crittenden said, with the 50 percent match required.
