Applicants sought for Board of Equalization

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants to fill an opening on the county’s Board of Equalization. The BOE serves as a review committee for the county’s real estate assessment. Its duties are to hear taxpayers’ concerns for correction of their real estate assessments, and increase, decrease or affirm such assessments.

The Board of Equalization consists of five members who, upon recommendation by the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors, are appointed by the Circuit Court. Each member must be a resident of the county and a majority of the members must own land in the county.

The vacancy is for a three-year term to begin Jan. 1, 2014. Preference will be given to commercial/residential real estate appraisers or professionals or builders/developers or legal/financial professionals.
