Apparent electrical fire engulfs Hayes resident’s vehicle

Hayes resident Clint Alexander said he heard a loud noise shortly after 11 o’clock on the evening of Sunday, July 16 outside his home in the River Club at Twin Island community.

The noise, which he said sounded like something had hit the house or someone trying to break in, ended up being the tires on his Jeep exploding after the vehicle caught fire in his driveway.

Alexander said after hearing the boom, he looked out of his window and saw nothing. “So, I went downstairs and turned on the light and went outside to the garage area,” he said. “As I stepped out, I noticed a glow-like (appearance) on the grass and behind the vehicles.”

He first checked his wife’s car and found nothing, but as he went by the passenger side of his 2015 Jeep Cherokee, he noticed the glow was bigger and there was smoke. When he went to the driver’s side, he saw the vehicle was on fire.
