Antioch Homecoming Weekend on Friday, Saturday

Historic Antioch Baptist Church, 4604 Cedar Bush Road, Gloucester, will host its third annual Antioch Homecoming Weekend on Friday and Saturday. The event is co-hosted by The Truth in the Spirit, a group serving as stewards of Antioch, and by the Fairfield Foundation. Hours are 6-8 p.m. Friday and 2-5 p.m. Saturday. The weekend, open to the public, welcomes descendants, local families, historians, researchers, the community and “anyone interested in preserving and learning about the region’s African American heritage,” a release from Fairfield stated. Friday’s program includes a welcome from Apostle Markita Brooks. Fairfield staff will update research in the area. A praise dance, healing circle and refreshments will follow.
