Antex USA, which specializes in soldering tools, recently opened an office at White Marsh Shopping Center.
Drew Owen of Gloucester, said the local operation serves as both an administrative office and a distribution facility, with another distribution facility located in Boston, Mass. The company is a subsidiary of England-based Antex. Owen owns the businesses with Ian Lockhart of England.
Owen said the company’s best-selling item is a soldering tool that links copper or brass pipes together and is often used by plumbers. Also, Owen said they sell an assortment of soldering irons, ranging from 12 watts to 100 watts, which are often purchased by electricians, home hobbyists such as model builders, and for training purposes.
Another application that Antex is involved with is glue guns, which Owen said are packaged in craft and hobby kits. Among other products carried are digital temperature meters, soldering stations, butane gas toolkits and gas soldering irons.
