Another gift of good eating from the Central Village club

For nearly half a century the Central Village Homemakers of Mathews has more than fulfilled the goals their organization was originally based upon: improving skills in homemaking, such as preserving food and creating gardens. In their years of organized togetherness these ladies have not only maintained their basic principles but built on them, as well. They have been a strong force in supporting whatever this community may need.

One may ask, what is the difference between a homemaker and a housewife? Both refer to the same person but their usage makes the difference. Housewife is an antiquated term putting women down to being a wife to their husband. Homemaker gives them dignity with an unbound limit as to what they can do. The Central Village Homemakers without a doubt show what they can do.

They share what they have learned. Having one of the most popular booths at Market Days truly supports that fact. They volunteer when asked, whatever, wherever, no matter what the task...
