Annie Gurley Smith, age 87, of Gloucester, passed in her home surrounded by family and caregivers, Jessica Hicks-Woodruff and David Eckley, on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013.

She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and prior to her illness, active in a local garden club.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Willard R. Smith; children, Kathryn S. Bailie, Sidney S. Smith, Valerie J. Smith, Glenda L. Ritter; four grandchildren; a sister, Betty Hutinson, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Rita Staul were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 in Salem United Methodist Church, Gloucester County. Interment was in the church cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
