Anna Robins advances to state cross country meet

Gloucester’s Anna Robins was one of only four freshman girls to qualify individually for the state cross country meet during the Group AAA Eastern Region Meet on Saturday at Bells Mill Park in Chesapeake.

Robins finished the 5K race in an impressive 19:46 and will be the only athlete to represent Gloucester High School in the Group AAA State Cross Country Championships in The Plains this Saturday.

The GHS girls’ team finished 10th overall in the Eastern Regional, with its top seven runners finishing in 12th place, 59th, 62nd, 63rd, 66th, 71st and 92nd.
The Gloucester boys took seventh place overall with runners in 27th, 35th, 39th, 43rd, 45th, 57th and 85th in a field of 116. The highlight for the boys was senior Tyler Price’s personal record time of 17:08, accomplished on the tough Bells Mill course.
