ANNA (ANNIE) GRIGELIS ROBBINS

Anna (Annie) Grigelis Robbins, age 83, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Riverside Lifelong Health & Rehabilitation, Mathews County, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s. Annie was a twin and was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1942, in Aerie, West Virginia. She spent her formative years in Standard, W.Va., near the banks of Paint Creek. Following graduation from East Bank High School in 1960, Annie moved to Gloucester, Va., to be near her sisters and brother. She then met and married Cliff in Gloucester in July 1961. Annie was a longtime member of Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church and, in more recent years, Severn Church. While at Groves, she was active with the women’s circle, the children’s Sunday School and nursery program, and continued with participation in the Joyful Hands at Severn Church. Annie enjoyed working as an Assistant Postmaster at the Ordinary Post Office, and later as an office assistant for her brother and sister-in-law at Turlington & Sons Septic Service. Gardening was a favorite pastime, where her beautiful tulips and daffodils danced in the spring breezes, and colorful summer flowers adorned her porch and patio, where she and Cliff enjoyed meals together with family. Annie’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with her grandsons, Logan, John, and Luke. She could be found cheering for the boys on the ballfield, at school events, and hosting many sleepovers at her house. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, John Clifford “Cliff” Robbins; her parents, George Grigelis and Grace Hill Grigelis; her sisters and brothers and their spouses, and special nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Ramsey (Mark), and Johna Pitchford (Jeff); grandsons, John Ramsey, Logan Pitchford and Luke Pitchford; brother-in-law, Douglas Robbins (Nancy) and sister-in-law, Jackie Turlington; nieces and nephews, Donna Grigelis Smith, Stanley Grigelis, Genia Allen, Selina Lehman, Michael Matteson, Debi Strye, Michelle Browning, Kim Sandler, Sara Hall and Carrie Provensen, and special great-nieces and -nephews. A graveside service conducted by Pastor Art Wolz was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Gloucester Point Cemetery. The family would like to thank the loving nurses and aides at Riverside LLH & Rehab Mathews and Riverside Hospice Care Middle Peninsula for the compassionate care they gave to our mother. In memory of Annie, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Middle Peninsula/Northern Neck, 358 McLaws Circle, Suite 1, Williamsburg, Va. 23185.
