ANDREW W. ‘ANDY’ YOUNG JR.

Andrew W. “Andy” Young Jr., 73, of Gloucester, passed on to heaven on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017.

Andy loved his Lord and was a member of Newington Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the USS Trutta in the silent service. Following his service, he was employed at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown for 29 years until his retirement in 1995. After his retirement, he worked for Service Star in the Court House as a small engine repairman, Southern States, Land View Plantation, and as a courier for Chesapeake Bank.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary J. Young; daughter, Rebecca Young; son, Aaron Young and his wife Jennifer; sister, Mary Lynn Vaughn, and grandchildren, Matthew, Phillip, Chase, Abbey, Tucker, and Mason.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at 4 p.m. at Newington Baptist Church Cemetery. Following the service, there will be celebration of Andy’s life in the church fellowship hall.

Memorial donations may be made to Newington Baptist Church.

Andy was a loyal Redskins fan and anyone wishing to wear gold, burgundy, and white or any Redskins gear to the funeral service may do so.
