Andrew P. (Andy) Cochran of Hayes, son of Hubert and Maggie Cochran, was born Aug. 10, 1934 in Webster County, West Virginia. Andy passed away peacefully at home Oct. 13, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. His memory will be cherished.

Andy was active in the Boy Scouts organization and two of his sons attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Andy was an active member of the Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church at Ordinary. Many church members and friends were the recipients of Andy’s bountiful vegetable garden each year. He enjoyed farming, working with his many old tractors, and helping others.  

Andy married his childhood sweetheart, Janet Bruffy, and they enjoyed 64 years together living in many different locations during his military career. 

Andy moved his family to Gloucester County in 1967, retired from the Air Force in 1974 and finished raising five children.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, and their children, Andrew Lee Cochran, Debra Simpson (Steve), David Cochran (Julie), Beth Roach (Jack), Kevin Cochran (Rebecca). Andy has eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The visitation was held Wednesday, Oct. 17 from 7-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Memorial services will be held at Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, Thursday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jan Commander and the Rev. Arthur Wolz conducting.
