Andrew Lee Ewell, 82, of Foster, born Dec. 26, 1935, went home to his wife on Oct. 20, 2018.
Andrew retired from the Newport News Shipyard as a Master Shipbuilder. He was a member of the Tiger team for a few years. He was a Scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America. Andrew enjoyed his time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his brothers, Buddy and Robert; stepson, Mark; nephew Matthew, and granddaughter Casey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Myrtle Ewell; wife, Shirley; stepson, Mark Schroder, and brother, Walter “Buddy.”
Andrew is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jodie and Keith McGowan; granddaughter, Casey Hoy (Michael); sisters, Jean Marshall (Daniel), Dolores Lockwood; brother, Robert G. (Paulette); sister-in-law, Barbara Ewell, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to his hospice nurses, Gina Rowe and Pam Hudson, and a special thank you to his lifelong friend, Gene Jenkins, for all of his kind and loving support. While Andrew was an avid animal lover, he had a fondness for cats.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Nazarene, Hudgins.
Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, assisted the family with the arrangements.
