ANDREW JACKSON HOGGE SR.

Andrew Jackson Hogge Sr., age 91, of Gloucester Point, a native of Gloucester, died at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital on Sept. 20, 2014.

Mr. Hogge retired from Naval Weapons Station, Ordnance Department. He was a lifelong member as well as lifelong deacon of Union Baptist Church, serving on numerous committees, including clerk for 17 years. His honesty, kindness, integrity and most of all, his love, will be missed by all.

Survivors include, wife of 73 years, Lucy Hogge; daughter, Della Grinnell and husband Reggie; son, Andrew Jackson Hogge Jr. and wife Barbara; five grandchildren, Steve, Rick, Jonathan, Angela and Christel; 10 great-grandchildren, Chrissy, Stephanie, Nick, Ben, Tabitha, Elijah, Aaron, Jonathan, Stella and Amelia; two great-great-grandchildren, Bailynn and Addison; three brothers, Sam Hogge, Jennings Hogge and Thomas Hogge, and two sisters, Catherine Haywood and Betty Lyell.

Services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rodney Autry and Pastor Richard Whiteheart were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, in Union Baptist Church, Achilles. Interment followed in Gloucester Point Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
