Andersen appointed school board chairman

Troy M. Andersen was voted chairman of the Gloucester County School Board by its members during the board’s annual organizational meeting Tuesday at the T.C. Walker Education Center. Charles Records was voted vice chairman. 

Andersen represents the Gloucester Point Magisterial District and was appointed to the seat to fill an unexpired term in November 2012 before running unopposed to represent the district in a special election. Records, an at-large member, joined the board for his first term in January of last year. 

Andersen was elected by a 6-1 vote, with member Kevin Smith opposing. The vote to elect Records was unanimous.

In other business, the board set a joint meeting with county supervisors to consider fiscal year 2016 budget matters.
