110 YEARS AGO Thursday, July 8, 1909 from the Mathews Journal Blakes: The season of suspense long hovering over her host of admirers was finally lifted on Wednesday evening, June 30 at Mathews Chapel, when Miss Ethel, the beautiful and beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Mitchell was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Robert H. Davis, both of this place, the bride formerly of Maryland. The marriage ceremony, in proportion to the rivalry for the hand of the bride, was very impressive. The newly wed couple with their attendants and friends repaired to the home of the bride immediately after the ceremony where a delightful repast was served.
