An estimated 20,000-25,000 enjoy Daffodil Festival

Spring was in the air at this year’s Daffodil Festival, with lots of sunshine, cool, crisp temperatures, and the signature yellow flowers in abundance all along Main Street.

People were in abundance, as well, with 20,000 to 25,000 of them enjoying the weekend events including Saturday morning’s parade, booths selling a large variety of goods, children’s activities, and lots of good food, according to an estimate from the Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism department.

This year’s parade participants didn’t disappoint, said Gloucester PRT director Katey Legg. Local businesses, civic groups, schools, and churches did a great job of portraying this year’s festival theme, “Paint the Town Yellow,” she said. And, as a special tribute to the military, veterans and first responders, a 48-foot replica of the USS Alabama from Norfolk Naval Shipyard was featured.
