America 250! Quilt Project

The Augustine Warner Chapter NSDAR won the state quilt contest to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. Once pieced together, a quilt representing all 50 states will be displayed in the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Augustine Warner Chapter member Wendy Calder, at left, made the quilt block which will represent Virginia and chapter Regent Alison Johnston, at right, did the embroidery work. This is the Star of Virginia quilt square “which recognizes our Revolutionary War women heroes—the true stars of Virginia,” a release stated. “Quilting is a true American tradition and I am so thankful my grandmothers and great-grandmothers passed it on to me,” Calder said.
