Mathews Museum held its first Amateur Radio class on Saturday. The seven-week classes will be held every Saturday, resuming May 9, from 9 a.m.-noon. The FCC exam will be given on the final Saturday. The classes are being taught by volunteer instructors from the Amateur Radio Relay League and organized by ARRL member Allan May, founder of the Charles City Amateur Radio Club. Members of the Middle Peninsula Amateur Radio Club are also participating. Classes are free, but an ARRL textbook is required. The museum will be headquarters for the newly organized Mathews Amateur Radio Club which is now in the process of installing its own base station with donated equipment. For more information, or to sign up for the classes, contact Tom Robinson at 804-240-4065, or register at the museum Tuesday through Saturday....
