A funeral for Alvin Foster Auringer Jr., 87, of Richmond, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. He died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013.

Mr. Auringer served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a rate analyst for CSX Railways in Richmond prior to retirement, and was a member of Westhampton Baptist Church in Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha Ann Carson Auringer, and a sister.

Survivors include a daughter, a son, a sister, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon-12:45 p.m. Thursday. Interment with military honors will follow in the Gloucester Point Cemetery.
