Allen takes over as MCVIC director

Mathews native Emily Allen is the new director of Mathews County Visitor and Information Center. One of her main priorities will be to make MCVIC a hub for businesses across the county to cultivate new ideas and methods to promote their businesses.

Unlike many of her peers, Allen, 23, who recently graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax with a degree in conflict analysis and resolution, decided to move back to Mathews because she has always had a strong love for her hometown. “I got really lucky to be able to apply for this job,” she said.

She has most recently been serving as a volunteer with MCVIC under its previous interim director Lori Dusenberry. In doing so, she has already had the opportunity to learn her way around the place, and already knows the passion local business owners put into their businesses.
