All dolled up

Riding on the Sanders Retirement and Assisted Living float is Barbara Weldon, who was all dolled up for Saturday’s Gloucester Christmas Parade. Despite the threat of inclement weather, the parade was held to the delight of many Gloucester residents who filled the Main Street sidewalks to celebrate the Christmas season.

The Gloucester Christmas Parade had a number of winners in its various categories. In the Community and Civic Group category, The Gloucester Kennel Club and The Giving Garden Foundation took first and second places. This horse-drawn carriage from Step Up Into T.L.C. Inc. didn’t place, but was still a crowd favorite.

Audrick Martinez looks over the edge of the Petsworth Elementary School float. Petsworth and Abingdon tied for best schools entry. Other winners in the parade were the Baystars and Guerilla Wrestling who tied in the Youth Group Category, Transforming Life Church and Little Lights who took first and second in the Church Affiliated category, Swihart Orthodontics and Steampunk who took first and second in the commercial category and James Redmond who won the Individual category.

The Gloucester County Public School Transportation float took first place in the School Group category. The school bus was decked out to look like the famous Polar Express, complete with the nameless drifter riding on top. In the Motor Group category, the Middle Peninsula Classic Cruisers and Robert Brown took first and second places.

The Page Middle School Select Ensemble and the crowd gathered for the event cheer as the Main Street Christmas Tree lights up.

The Page Middle School Select Ensemble conducted by Karen Scalf performed at the Main Street Tree Lighting. The ensemble’s float took second place in the School Group category in the parade.
