ALICIA MARIE MARSH

Alicia Marie Marsh, 43, of Gloucester, received the key to her heavenly home on April 7, 2020.

She made her grand entrance as the firstborn of Lyndall and Johnny Marsh Sr. on Aug. 6, 1976 in Newport News. She was raised in Mathews surrounded by the love of family from “Marsh Country” all the way to “down bottom.” She was a 1994 graduate of Mathews High School where she was well-known for her skills as a star basketball player in addition to other sports such as softball and track.

She was a devoted mother to her two children and loved them with every bone in her body. She was truly their biggest fan in all aspects and would do anything and everything for them.

Family meant everything to her. No matter the family member or event, she was always eager to be a cheerleader in the stands. Because she exuded so much love for others, she was loved by so many, whether it be family, friends, or her New Hope Church family.

She had a strong relationship with God that continued to grow with each day. She would testify about her blessings and love for God at every opportunity she could. Her faith gave her strength through her last days on this Earth.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

Alicia was predeceased by her niece, Samiya, and her grandparents, John, Lois, Ruth, and Melvin.

She is survived by her children, Kiara (Gerard) and Xander; her parents, Lyndall and Johnny; her siblings, Sondra, J.T., Jessica (Major), and Alana (Joel); her nieces, Queen, Amari, Myasia, Jameelah, and Greigh; her nephew affectionately known as her “second son,” Allah, and an assortment of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and church family.

The viewing will be 3-5 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2020, at J.K. Redmond Funeral Home, Shacklefords. The graveside service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2020, at Rising Valley Baptist Church, James Store.
