ALGIE BRADFORD ‘BRAD’ WARD III

Algie Bradford “Brad” Ward III passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, in Tempe, Arizona, at age 69, after a long battle with scleroderma. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina, to Buddy and Net Lawson Ward, and grew up on the York River in Bena, Gloucester County. Brad graduated from Gloucester High School, Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School, and Thomas Nelson Community College, majoring in Business. In addition to the shipyard, he was employed by the Electrical Equipment Company in Richmond, Virginia, and the BoatUS store in Deltaville. He was self-employed as Brad’s Marine for many years. Gloucester County was his home for decades, then St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, for 15 years, then sunny Mesa, Arizona, for the past three years.

Brad is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beth; sisters, Betty Williams (Hamilton), Karen Borja (David), Laura Ward-Germain (Scott), Grace Via, Hope Via Reason, Daniel Via, and David Via; as well as many beloved family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 11-11:45 a.m. at Hogg Funeral Home. A noon service in the chapel, conducted by Pastor Bill West, will follow.
