ALFRED SIMMONS

Alfred Simmons, 67, of Gloucester, died Nov. 7, 2012 at his home.

Alfred was a veteran of the United States Army having proudly served his country for 20 years, retiring as Sergeant First Class. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest.

Alfred was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. His favorite sport was target shooting and he spent many hours practicing. He loved to laugh, had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed good food and loved teasing the ladies. He will be missed by so many and always remembered.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline L. Simmons; daughters, Teresa Simmons, Donna Simmons, Tina Guasp; grandchildren, Landon, Lilliany and Lemuel Guasp, and Nicholas Simmons.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Eric Musser was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Huntington Mennonite Church, 785 Harpersville Road, Newport News, Va. The family received friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Inurnment with military honors will be held at a later date at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Va.
